The Moana Surfrider

Mark & I love The Moana.  It was the first resort built on Waikiki beach, the Moana hotel opened its magnificent doors to the public on March 11, 1901. The Moana is the oldest Hotel in Waikiki.

The RMS Queen Mary, the most beautiful Ship in the world! At least I think so.  I had

the great honor of working aboard her.

The RMS Queen Mary celebrates her 70th Birthday this year.

The new QM2's maiden voyage was January 12th 2004.  She is a beautiful ship but none compares to the first and finest.

The Meeting of The Queens

The RMS Queen Mary and The QM2

On February 23, 2006 the two GREAT QUEENS met for the very first time in Long Beach.  Mark and I were there for this royal occasion.  The QM2 sounded her

horns to salute her namesake, her horns can be heard for over 10 miles.  It was even more exciting to hear the amazing sound because the QM2 has one of the original Queen Mary's horns..  We stood at stern of the Queen Mary and

watched the QM2 make her way as close to us as water depth would allow, what an amazing sight she is.  Still, to me not as beautiful as her older sister but I am a little bias.   For anyone who loves ocean liner history this was a day not to

miss.

Cunard: The Most Famous Ocean Liners In The World

LONG BEACH, Calif. The world's largest ocean liner, the Queen Mary Two, rendezvoused with its historic namesake in a California harbor today, the ships saluting each other with horn blasts heard for miles.

Surrounded by sailboats and motor yachts, the Q-M-Two sounded its horn three times and the original Queen Mary, built in 1934, responded. The older ship has been docked in the Long Beach harbor for nearly 40 years, where it's a popular tourist attraction and hotel.

As the immense new liner entered the harbor, a fireboat spouted water and airplanes wrote "Hail to the Queens" in the blue sky.

Thousands of people lined the channel walkway for more than a mile and swarmed the decks of the old liner as its successor arrived.

One of my favorite songs from Hawai'i

At night when the shadows are falling

I hear the rolling surf calling

Calling and calling to me

Waikîkî

Tis for you that my heart is yearning

My thoughts are always returning

Out there to you across the sea

Chorus:

Your tropic nights and your wonderful charms

Are ever in my memory

And I recall when I held in my arms

An angel sweet and heavenly

Waikîkî

My whole life is empty without you

I miss that magic about you

Magic beside the sea

Magic of Waikîkî

A hui hou kakou

Until we meet again
